Who we are.

 

 

The charity has four trustees.  They have all worked with, or have personal experience of caring for children who suffer from significant social, emotional and mental health difficulties and the challenges that they and their families face on a daily basis.

Clare Hood and Helen Hayward are two of the trustees. Clare has over forty-two years of experience working with children and families with complex needs, forty of these at Springfield House School. She has worked as a family support worker, residential care worker and subsequent manager, cover supervisor, after school club leader. She is presently our Children in Care (CIC) lead, Education Health Care Plan lead, family support worker line manager, attendance officer, as well as a Designated Safeguarding Lead. 

Alongside Clare is Helen Hayward, up until July 2026, she was Assistant Head Teacher at Springfield House School, twenty years teaching experience, sixteen of which are at Springfield. She qualified with a first-class honours degree in Science with QTS from Warwick University as a mature student. Her first teaching jobs was in a mainstream school in Nechells, after four years she moved to Springfield House Special School where she spent four years as a class teacher and then undertook the role of Assistant Head.  She was lead for Behaviours and Attitudes, oversaw the pastoral work, a designated safeguarding lead and the designated teacher for looked after children. Prior to the teaching career, she was a dental technician for fourteen years and respite foster carer.
